Powerflushing

A Powerflush is, simply put, the use of a purpose made powerflushing machine, that operates at high velocity, using cleaning chemicals and reversal of flow and sometimes agitation, to clean and flush out your heating system and components.

Powerflushing can very effectively remove sludge, magnetite, and other debris from your boiler, pipework and radiators. DLM Gas Ltd are proud to offer powerflushing to our customers, every powerflush we complete gets a water sample taken after flushing.

This water sample is analysed on site with immediate results, showing that the flush has been completed, the cleaning chemical flushed out afterwards, and then chemical inhibitor has been correctly dosed, demonstrating compliance to BS7593:2019 and if relevant, your boiler’s warranty. The parameters checked for are PH, electrical conductivity and inhibitor level.

It is widely accepted across the heating industry that poor water quality, contaminants and sludge causes a higher number of boiler breakdowns and  component failure than any other system issue, believed to be up to 87%!

Some of the many signs of poor water quality in your heating system include;

  • Cold spots on radiators
  • Radiators not working
  • Kettling of the boiler heat exchanger
  • Overheating of the boiler
  • Pump failure
  • System noise
  • Regular need to bleed radiators due to “gassing up”, the term used when hydrogen is produced as part of the corrosion process
  • Black water from your radiator bleed screw
  • Pumping over into the F&E tank of open vented systems
